My Approach

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured treatment that works to process unresolved traumatic memories in the brain and body by using bilateral stimulation. It aims to reduce the vividness and emotions associated with those memories. The EMDR International Association states “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019).

Havening

Havening is a set of protocols that facilitate help to release traumatically encoded memories, regulate the mind and body during activating moments, reduce the impact of stress on the brain and body functioning, raise resilience and personal empowerment (Truit, 2020). Havening can be used in combination with other therapies or as a stand-alone modality. This is not an insight-oriented therapy, it instead addresses the neuro electrochemical makeup in the brain to create change. You can learn more about Havening by clicking here.

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

ACT is a behavioral therapy to helps people accept what is out of their control and commit to action that improves and enriches their life. ACT aims to help people get in contact with the present moment, open up to what is happening, and do what matters. This helps people deal more effectively with thoughts and feelings, in order to lessen the impact on them. Clarifying values helps people focus on what is important to them and work towards living in alignment with a life they want.
